Revitalize is a word that God speaks to the dry bones of a dead church or to the weak, helpless form of a dying church. Both images come from the book of Ezekiel. In the case of a dead church, it is just as God did to the dry bones of the nation of Israel in Ezekiel 37: “Thus says the Lord GOD to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live” (v. 5), and “Thus says the Lord GOD: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live” (v. 9).
